While a lot of international players have returned to the WPS in the US, many of the World Cup winning Japanese players have returned back home to heroic welcomes in their own Nadeshinko League.
This is Nahomi Kawasumi. She scored two goals for Japan against Sweden to propel them into the Finals against the USA.

As much as the USA is going crazy right now for their soccer team, I can only imagine how this is being celebrated in Japan! What a Finals this is going to be!

"It’s been a fun tournament to watch and it is great to see women’s soccer gaining in popularity. But I do wonder how the teams would square off against each other if victory were not decided by the number of goals scored in a contest…but by each country’s level of gender equality? And by figuring this out, could one determine a correlation between gender equality and success in the FIFA Women’s World Cup?"
