Starling by ~doctor-morbius

This is Starling from DC Comics’ Birds of Prey. She’s by far the best thing to come out of the new 52. This was basically an excuse to play around with my new tablet to see how it plays with Adobe Illustrator (quite nicely, thank you). This was mostly done with the tablet, with a few areas flatted in with the pen tool. I drew the bird in a hyper real way that looked completely wrong when I shrunk it down. It still doesn’t look right. It’s a starling, by the way, which should be obvious. I don’t like the amorphous blobs on Starling’s sleeve in the comics so I didn’t draw them. I went with more foliage instead.

Anyway, this was fun.

I don’t mind Starfire having a healthy sexual appetite actually. What bothered me was linking it to a person who also has no long-term memory that she could easily be taken advantage of and no one else seems to care about it.

To me, the whole issue made Roy look worse than Kori.

Helena Bertinelli as a princess. Is it sad for me to say that I prefer her princess outfit than the one with the belly window? (I mean, hey, imagine she wears this dress for important meetings and dances and then changes into a more comfortable battle outfit to fight). I really swear the outfit looks much better in medieval garb than in other eras.

Reboots happen, we’re OK with that, but Stephanie Brown and Kara Zor-El were pretty cool and we wish we got more time with them.

We did a similar Green Lantern mini-comic recently with our buddy Dan Govar if you’re looking for more stuff to read.

I’ll take any more Stephanie Brown (and this pair together) that I can!
