Captain Marvel by Evan “Doc” Shaner
Picked up the new Previews finally yesterday and cannot say how happy I am about this on about a million levels from how it was portrayed to the fact it’s on ongoing to the new costume to the fact it seems they are going to finally recognize herself as one of the power houses of the Marvel U to Kelly Sue DeConnick doing the writing.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee all around!

Overall, character for character, if you asked me which universe held the upper hand in strong female characters, I’d have to give DC the edge over Marvel.
But if you talk about which universe had the upper hand in strong women of color characters, sorry DC, you are WAY WAY behind. You got your Storm, your Monica Rambeau, your Misty Knight, and those are just the black female characters I can think of from Marvel. Add in their Hispanic, Asian, Muslim, and other women of color from Marvel, it makes DC look pretty bad.
One thing about The JLA/The 99 crossover, at least THAT book gave DC a little diversity in its women, even if they had to borrow them from somebody else’s lineup.

The second part of David Brother’s guest post at Marvel.com for Black History Month. In this post, David talks rather briefly about Monica Rambeau.
