Minnesota hockey player, Jenna Privette, became the second youth hockey player in a week’s time in Minnesota high school hockey to suffer a serious injury involving paralysis. Things look promising for Jenna as there are no spinal cord breaks and this is an injury she has suffered before with a full recovery. The outlook isn’t as good for Jack Jablonski who had been injured the week before and may never regain feeling in his legs again. This has brought up a serious debate on ending checking for good in high school hockey. The game officials had filed a report in Jenna’s case that she had not been checked and had just fallen down on her own, which is disputed by her parents and game video which appears to show an illegal check from behind.
